'HEROPANTI 2' Movie Review: It's not good for your health

Introduction:

Heropanti 2 is the new bad gold standard. That's how ridiculous this new Tiger Shroff film is. The film is a spiritual sequel to Shroff's debut feature, which debuted with Kriti Sanon and him eight years ago. I took a moment to consider Shroff's filmography. His films all have the same look and feel to them. So Heropanti 2 might very easily be Baaghi 3 (or 4?). Is the industry not expecting any better from the star, or is it the same ol' 'why change what is working' theory that has constrained him to a lifetime of mediocre action films?

I'm curious as to what was scribbled on paper to pass muster as the script. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala and writer Rajat Arora, who previously delivered the enjoyable Kick (starring Salman Khan), have attempted a cybercrime thriller here. I deduced some of it by decoding the complex monologues that were crammed in to serve as punchlines.

Heropanti 2 Review:

The film alternates between now and two years ago, focusing on Babloo, a super hacker hired by India to track down Laila, who is planning to hack banks and steal government money on March 31. So far, everything is going swimmingly. Then there's a love story involving Laila's sister Inaaya (played by Tara Sutaria) and Babloo. She is a millionaire gamer who annoys her boyfriend by kissing unassuming men. We figured Bollywood had moved on from this type of arm candy.

This Ahmed Khan-directed film may leave the audience speechless since the human brain can only take so much abuse. Because coherence was not a requirement, creative action scenes were placed one after the other, in no logical order. Khan has made sure that everyone walks out of the theatre saying, 'Wah action zabardast tha!' by getting Shroff to throw punches at everyone and anything that moves and displays his chiselled abs.

Tiger 'tigers' (should be a common industry term by now) as he jumps, pummels, and dances with the earnestness that is required of him. Then there's Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who plays the campy supervillain, Laila. His dislike for potboilers is widely known, so whenever he appears on-screen speaking a cringe-worthy line and laughing devilishly, you figure he's making fun of the film. He is the only one who adds a dash of levity to this drab event. He doesn't take himself seriously and likes the so-bad-it's-good atmosphere, dressed in feathered outfits a la Madhuri Dixit!

Conclusion:

Overall, HEROPANTI 2 has expensive production values and excellent stunts by Tiger Shroff, but the movie has a terrible premise. At the box office, it will only appeal to Tiger Shroff and action film enthusiasts. AR Rahman's score for the film "Dafa kar" has a weird, sort of zombie-like piece. The song perfectly expresses my feelings regarding the film. Yaar, bas dafa kar!

My Rating: 2/10
