IF TOMORROW COMES by SIDNEY SHELDON Book Review

Total Pages: 501
Language: English
Genre: Thriller, Crime, and Adventure fiction

Introduction:

Sidney Sheldon's novel, "If Tomorrow Comes", is a mystery fiction narrative, that was published in 1985. My first Sidney Sheldon novel is this one. There are numerous ways to define this book, but I think this book is just amazing. You'll be on the edge of your seat the entire time thanks to all the twists and turns, and you'll want more. This is one of Sheldon's best novels because of his extraordinary talent for combining a straightforward plot with complex and lively characters.

Summary:

The main character in the novel is Tracey Whitney, a young, attractive banker. Tracey, who was deeply saddened by her mother Dorothy's suicide after being scammed of all of her life's earnings and assets, intends to seek vengeance. Even though she attacks the person she believes killed her mother, she ends up being deceived into confessing to things she didn't do. Despite the fact that she is carrying his baby in her womb, her conviction (15-year sentence) separates her from her fiancé, who comes from a well-known family. The events that follow as a result of her imprisonment and subsequent miscarriage create the story's major plot.

As Tracey begins her (mis)adventures as a con woman, the drama is set in a huge international backdrop that spans Europe and America. The narrative effectively illustrates how an innocent person's conviction can result in the creation of a criminal. Dumped by life, Tracey not only gains a newfound position as a thief but also the abilities that help lift her into an "elite" league of con artists. Tracey embarks on a path of vengeance, destroying the lives of individuals who damaged her life because she is unwilling to accept the harm done to them.

As she travels, she meets Jeff Stevens, the story's male protagonist, who is also a skilled con artist. Their rivalry over who is the best con artist sets the premise for the story's final section. When Tracey learns that Jeff views her as more than just a rival or helper in the endeavours they start out on, the narrative turns toward sweet sentiments.

Review:

We quickly come to understand that Tracy's persona is similar to that one rollercoaster trip that is impossible to fully understand or prepare for. She is a kind, loving woman who only wants justice for those who have hurt her on one end of the spectrum. On the other hand, she is an omniscient creature who administers justice independently.

To say that this novel will take you through an emotional crisis would be an understatement. The hardships and sufferings Tracy faces as she works to bring about justice for the wrongdoings of a small group of influential individuals will rock you to the core. You'll experience a sense of being right there with Tracy while also witnessing her character change as she adjusts to her evolving circumstances.

The climax of this gripping novel will leave you, the reader, satisfied and with a sense of closure—almost as if everything transpired just as it was meant to. However, it will also leave you wanting more information and raising new queries. From the start of the story, there is a subtle blending of emotions, and it manages to keep this shine through to the very conclusion. The plot is a fantastic mixture of lies, bravery in the face of difficulties, adventure, adrenaline, romance, humour, and other things. Additionally, it leaves the reader in awe of Sidney Sheldon's storytelling brilliance. For anyone who enjoys reading thriller fiction, the book is a good choice.

My Rating: 9/10
